Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness describes the ability of the brain to differentiate individual sounds within words. Many children with Dyslexia suffer from weak phonological awareness as a result of dyslexia-related processing dfficulties, and this can be one of the underlying problems behind their reading and spelling problems. Many of these children find it easier to develop spelling strategies using RIME chunks than to learn by synthetic phonics. SPINGOES is a highly structured series of games using a simple "Bingo" principle that strengthens this area through an enjoyable multisensory game format.
